About seven months ago, I searched the internet for a credit card that rewards you in bitcoin and I came across the MCO Visa Card. After reading through what it had to offer, I decided to get one. I went with the royal indigo card.
I’ve been using the card for about six months and I’ll be sharing my experience with it. I’ll talk about the good, the bad and my overall thoughts on it.
What is the MCO Visa Card?
Despite the official title of the card, the MCO visa card is a prepaid visa debit card offered by crypto.com. It gives you a percentage back on all purchases in CRO token which is the native crypto token of crypto.com.
The percentage that you get back is determined by which tier you get. It’s offered in five different tiers with the first tier being free and you get 1% back on all purchases.
For the next tiers, you must stake a set amount of their CRO token for six months. Staking means they hold your CRO tokens in your wallet but you are unable to access them during this period. The more you stake the higher your percentage back will be.
After the six months you will have free access to the tokens however if the amount of tokens drops down below the staking amount then you will not be able to enjoy the full benefits which I’ll get more into.
You can load money on to it from your bank account or by converting your crypto into US dollars and loading it on that way. Then you can use it wherever visa is accepted.
MCO Visa Card Review – Pros
The first thing I like about this card is it’s metal and that just makes it so sexy. It makes you feel real official when handing it over to a merchant.
The next thing is the benefits to having the card. Getting 3% bitcoin back on all my purchases was already enough for me but being able to get reimbursed for your spotify, netflix and amazon prime accounts is unheard of. To sweeten it up even more, it’s reimbursed back to you in CRO token. Those benefits will depend on which tier you get and whether or not you have chosen to keep your CRO staked or not.
I have not had any issues with the functionality of the card and the app that is used to manage the card runs smooth and is very easy to use.
Another thing is the other services crypto.com offers. I’ll have to save those for another post since this one is only about the card but the services are amazing.
MCO Visa Card Review – Cons
There is nothing that I can say that would cause me to want to terminate my relationship with the MCO visa card however there did seem to be a communication issue when I was trying to reach customer service once. It was a little shocking since the first and previous time I called them it was such a positive experience.
I was looking to update some information on my account and could not get a response through email or phone for days and then all of sudden it was updated with any notification to me that it was done.
That’s really it.
Overall Thoughts on the MCO Visa Card
Overall I think the MCO visa card is an amazing product and if you want one, I would act now as I’ve heard there can be a waiting list occasionally. If you to end up getting one or already have one, let me know what your experience has been, positive or negative in the comments section below.
